I received a demand letter from Getty Images saying I infringed on one of their pictures and that I owe them $780.00 or they would take me to court. The letter was quite professional and included a screen shot of the image in question and my website. Interestingly the screen shot of my website did not include their image nor do we have their image on our site.

It smell like a scam to me. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Don't know about your question, but I have to tell you, KUDOS on your Hall of Shame pictures! They are hilarious!!

Getty Images appears to be running a quasi "legal" scam....

Like you said, "Getty Imagines". Maybe Getty imagined that you used their image.

He is a person with integrity, and a big mouth

I've had inspectors from a few other sites contact me about other companies doing the same thing. Make sure you get your images from sites like iStockPhoto to avoid problems like this.
