Pretty creative wiring for a new garage that didn't have electricity.

Probably not, fuses tend to blow, and then there would be no power. They probably figured out that by sticking a copper penny in the fuse socket, it would not blow.

the real scary part is that it works or else they would have done it even more specially!!
