Comments on shared furnace / water heater vent

Not sure if this is OK. The furnace has an induced draft blower (not a cat IV). The vent extends up about 6 feet then is nearly horizontal (about 1/4 inch fer foot of rise) for about 10 feet where it tees into the water heater vent, then vertical out the roof. Vent sizes all looked OK. All type B and clearances looked OK. What I'm not sure about is the induced draft shared with the standard water heater and the long nearly-horizontal run.

What is your overall rise? Is there any evidence of condensation or improper function?

I'd be calling for service prior to close of title. There is rust evident at the top and bottom of the access plate to the heat exchanger. Something amiss.

I would say the overall rise is about 20 feet. What I thought were condensation stains on the blower are actually stains from the humidifier above leaking. So no, no signs of improper drafting.

From the leaking humidifier I believe, but servicing is a good idea to see if there is permanent damage.

How old is the installation? What you could be seeing is normal wear...
