There are but two choices (unless it has a fire rating): 1) the door is 1/2" gypsum board; 2) there is a 5 sided box constructed of 1/2" gypsum board surrounding the manifold (thereby taking the separation around behind the manifold, in which case, no door is even required).

Well, there are other choices, just not practical ones - look up what types are doors are allowed, that also applies to these doors - if you do not make them 'equivalent' to the wall.
