Disposal plug

Had one today that had the dishwasher hooked to a proper connection on the drain but the optional connection on the disposal was not plugged. Do you guys think this needs to be plugged or not? Thanks

Well that would all depend if the connection port on the disposal had been opened and it could then leak. Most of the time folks do not punch out the plastic in the port and it is sealed.

I agree with Scott ... it may already be plugged on the inside as they come from the factory that way. The factory plug needs to be knocked out if the dishwahser is to be connected to it.

If the disposal was not plugged you would see water coming from the connection.
Guaranteed test for plug.
Fill sink with water, remove stopper and turn on disposal, look under sink for water coming from DW disposal connection. Disposal will push water out Disposal's DW connection if not plugged.

Don't even need to turn disposal on. The water will drain out of the sink and fill the disposal as it drains out the disposal outlet. If that dishwasher connection is not plugged, water will pour out it.

By the way "Disposal" is a TM name, 'food waster grinder' it the proper term, a commonly used term is 'garbage disposer'.

The added water will make a great show as it blows out if not plugged.

Actually it is most valuable if the plug is cracked. Will accentuate the leak by added pressure.
