Saw a condensation line that is put directly into a 2 in drain in the crawl. They drilled a hole in drain line. Hose fits tight in it but I still called it out. Would just some sealant be allowed or a proper fitting cut into the drain with a leg for it be better.

That would not just be 'better', that would be 'required'.

It sounds totally illegal. I visualize a condensate line tapped into a drain line... which is wrong in many ways. A little sealant or a better fitting will not make it a proper connection. It needs to be an indirect connection at a trapped standpipe or other approved method.

In many jurisdictions (including mine), it is not legal to discharge condensate into the sanitary system. Condensate must be discharged to grade or to storm drain either directly or indirectly i.e. by a sump pump. So even if the connection is made using proper fittings, it still may not be allowed.
