In a home built in 1958. This outlet did not have any voltage on it. Might have been an early 220V outlet? Not sure. This is an antique. Anyone know? I am just curious about it.

Looks like an old 240 volt receptacle but I'm not sure. At first I thought that is was an Aerial outlet for a roof antenna but those had a different configuration.

Likely for a window shaker or wall unit air conditioner.

Jerry, yes, I think you are right. I bet it was for an old 220 V window AC. The outlet was right below a window.
Thanks

Gene,
Is that a Radio Shack tester?
If so how old?

Hi Garry, It is not an old tester. I think I bought it a couple of years ago. Don't recal where though. Might have been radio shack, but it is not an old one.
