Was it a realy old modular home, those rafter cuts look they might have hinged and then a knee wall was added...?

The builder is a gormet cook and wanted to make raftercheek soup.

Some of those rafters had maybe 20% bearing surface support.

Was it a realy old modular home, those rafter cuts look they might have hinged and then a knee wall was added...?It is a manufactured truss roof with a hip at the end. The truss on the left is truncated to fit the hip. The 2X4's coming down from the peak and hip ridges would actually be laid flat in most cases where the builders followed the plan. The actual weight carried by those 2X4's is not that great, but they need to rest firmly on the top chord of the truss.

I use to hear all of the time,

"I've cut it tree times and it's still to short. What's wrong with this lumber?"

That's a great one Garry. Thank you, I'm gonna use it!

Quite a while, I'm building a house with it!
