Getting rid of ducks

We have 2 wild ducks and their 3 dang kids that WILL not move out of our back yard and pool.
They have been coming and craping in the pool and deck for the five past years , and stay for 2-3 monts at a time.
Does anybody have any suggestions how to get rid of them?


Spraying them with water doesn't work. Turning them into duck soup is not an option. :D

Take an electrical cord and plug in one end to outlet and throw the other end into the pool.

Get a dog, the smaller the better.

Dog, sounds good then I gotta feed him and pay someone to take care of him when we go away.

Will rubber snakes work?

Shoot or elctrictute them , then I have the animal nazis on my case :)

Side note. My wife feels bad for a bee or moth if I kill them when they come in the house

Rubber snakes are not effective.
You may be able to have them relocated, but I'd just get a dog.

Auctualy feeding the cats so the ducks don't get food aound here is quite comical. Two get escourted to the front of the house, the other one comes in the back door just long enough to eat.

As far as not feeding the cats, if my wife had to choose between feeding me or the cats she would choose the cats.:)

Tell your wife if you can not have duck in orange sauce then she is responsible for keeping the pool clean.

Fake Owls work with some birds.

Running a net or stringing wire in back and forth 6" - 8" apart prevents them from landing. But will not make them go away, just keeps them out of the water.

Some students here are working on a helicopter drone that takes off and flies a circle around the yard whenever a deer triggers a motion detector. (We've eradicated most of our wolves and cougars, so the deer have become yard pigs.)

We had the misfortune of having squirrels get into out attic for years. There is a big oak tree in front of our house that gives them easy access to the roof. I put a hav-a-hart cage trap in the attic and caught one squirrel after another after another after another after another etc etc. I must have caught 25 of those of little bastards, many being repeat customers I'm sure. I got tired of hearing them run across the ceiling above my office and releasing them from the trap only so they could come right back again. I decided to deal with them my own way and I no longer have them in my attic.

My brother has both a pool with a liner and a 80 dog that jumps in the pool any time the door is open. Other that shaking water in the kitchen, has not had a problem

Before spending a lot of money to get rid of them I might have a change of heart and decide to have some duck soop.
I used the suggestion of banging pans, that was in the link that HG posted.
It's working so far, we'll see how much of a long term memory they have:)

When they come in the AM they dive bomb into the pool, swim around for a while, crap, hang out on the deck; crap, then go sit/take a nap under the trees, then start the whole process over again. :)
I haven't seen them in a couple days, we have several lakes [man made] in our commuinty. The last time I saw them I didnt't need to bang the pans, as soon as they saw me coming out the door they were gone. I'm hoping they decided it was quieter to hang with the other ducks there :)

Yesterday I noticed one of the realtors I know , that live a mile or so away had a post on their facebook page with ducks swimming in their pool. I asked them if their ducks needed friends. They didn't think they did:)

Geese and ducks are a common nuisance on golf courses. Try to putt around big goose poop piles!. Back when I played golf, I read an article about the problem that said the ingredient used to make grape flavored Kool-aid would give the birds indigestion and they would leave for better foraging areas after awhile. The stuff is a powder you sprinkle on the grass. Not a poison and not harmful to people or pets.

Well I got rid of the ducks with banging pots and pans.

Now we have another problem, a POed woodpecker.

Last week we had our palm trees trimmed.. Since then we have a
wood pecker that picks on the window thats next to one of the trees, [ so hard that I'm sure he's going to break the window, he's does this several times a day, starting @ 5M

Any one have any humane suggestions to make him happy :)

Find him a female wood pecker. (It won't make him happy but there is no reason for him not to be as miserable as the rest of us!:D) He will be too busy following orders to bother with that other wood pecker in the window.

Seriously, he is likely just seeing his reflection.
Try covering the window or moving the perch in front of the window.
