Hi, everybody:

I'm in school to become a home inspector in San Antonio, Texas. As I go through the home study part of the class, I sometimes have trouble understanding what I've just read. So I've been coming on Inspection News and following your posts as you discuss different subjects. As I follow a thread, understanding gradually dawns. Your posts have been a great source of information, and I thank all of you. I will keep tuning in as I do my work, so eventually I can join your ranks.

Thanks again,

Bill Slough

Bill,

One of the best things that you can do is hook up with other inspectors, either online or with a local group. When you've got questions or are confused over something just speak up. Our industry is always looking to bring in new people who will dedicate themselves to the profession.

Thanks for the advice, Eric. I will check it out. I definitely will need some help to get up to proficiency.

I echo Bill's comment. I have been in since August '11, but decided to increase my knowledge before going out to inspect. The funny thing is just when I feel I am ready, I find something else in the posts that I was not aware of... back to the books. Thank you for the helpful pictures and conversations.

This would be information on the PROPOSED SOP's not the ones in force already. Hard to ask questions to an on-line course :D .....

Hard to ask questions to an on-line course :D .....For each of our inspection courses, we have a dedicated thread for that. It is monitored 'round the clock.
