View Full Version : I think it's wrong, but I can't verify it

Drainage from the basement laundry sink flows into the floor drain about 5 feet away. Subsequently, also found out that the kitchen sink and dishwasher takes the same route into the basement rear floor drain. I feel it's wrong but I can't verify as to why.

By the way this is a gut rehab house.

Also there are signs around both the rear and front floor drains of previous back up. I have a feeling that there are scenarios when a lot of water could be flowing to the rear floor drain and seep into the basement.

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean Bacon

My main drain backs up about once every 2 years because of tree roots, causing my basement floor drain to flood if too much water is flowing.

Std. HO-3 all peril insurance does not cover sewer backup but you can get an endorsement added. Meanwhile Kristi, you might want to consider having a backwater valve installed. Water that has hit the ground generally is not covered by homeowner's insurance. Usually only federal floor insurance is and that is limited and not universally available.
