My gas line runs straight from meter to back of existing house. I want to add on 35ftx15 feet off the back of the house directly over where the Gas/home line is currently buried. Do I need to move the gas line so it is not under the structure, over for example to the side yard area, or elsewhere, or is it not only permissible but safe to have it under the new construction master bedroom suite and leave it where it is? Unsure whether it will be slab or raised foundation yet, so answers for both would be great. thank you.

Relocate the line. Do not allow it to run under your proposed structure.

I believe it is allowable under certain conditions, but I am not sure about the utility supply. I would check with your utility.

That said, I agree with Mark. Better to have it outside.

You should get the correct answer from the local building dept., since they have the final say.

Have a new line installed right from the meter. The old line can probably be abandoned in the ground.
