Hi guys,
Any of you use any boiler plate for the difference between concrete block and cinder block?
Did a house today and alot of areas had been repaired where cinder block has failed in the past and cobncrete block was installed.
Looks Ok now , but buyer wants to raise the roof and add weight.
Of course a structural engineer should be coming for that.
What I am interested in is any kind of standard comment you use for this type of structure and repairs.
Thanks
Wayne

I just call them CMU's. The cinder block is made with the fly ash. I've heard that the concrete ones are more durable. I leave the rest up to the engineer.

so what you are saying is if you see cmu's you recommend a structural engineer?
I feel I owe my clients a better description than "go hire a structural engineer" , i appreciate your comment though, so thanks

No what I'm saying is that I don't call one cinder or concrete but use CMU. If they are falling apart and they are load bearing I would recommend and engineer.
