What is this? fly/bug?

Based solely on the few which are turned to see the side of them, I'm going to go with ants as the waist is too thin for termites.

Ants have 3 distinct body sections Head, Middle and rear.

Termites have 2.

Please take a look at the close up I managed to figure out how to make. They seem to look like termites to me based on the comparison.
What do you guys think?

Still look like ants. The three at the top left corner have "narrow waists".

No way can those little buggers shove a tree trunk down through the tiny little hourglass waist. :)
