1938 building with a 1988 boiler. Is it possible there is asbestos in the boiler pipe insulation?

Thanks

If the boiler was first installed in 1998, then maybe not. If there was a boiler in the building since 1938, then more likely.

sorry, just load the pic. The boiler was replaced in 1990. I do not know when the pipes got replaced. I do not think they were original.

With possible asbestos....it is always best to be careful. Just report it as suspect and recommend it for further evaluation and testing. If it turns out to be newer materials ans safe the extra testing is cheap insurance vs purchasing a home that does have asbestos and not being aware!

It does look like the pipe is covered with asbestos inulation material, In my opinion.

That type of pipe insulation could be Fiberglas or asbestos.

You need to look at the insulation material (not the covering) to make a better guess on type of material.

Although, technically you need to "analyze" the material to determine if it is asbestos, I can tell with 99.9% certainty by looking at it.

I agree with other posts, report what you suspect may be the problem and refer for further testing.
