Natural gas line versus propane gas line

You ever notice that copper is not generally recommended for naturalgas lines however propane lines running from the tank to the house are usually alwayscopper? I know there are exceptions and the amount of sulfur in the natural gas differs in some areas, however I generally only see copper line used on natural gas lines in older homes and not in use at all on more modern homes, yet the propane lines often are copper. Just an observation, I have not done any research on this, just thought I would throw it out to the forum for comments.

The gas code allows for the use of copper on natural gas lines. They recently put it back in the code to allow this. Supposedly the natural gas would react to the copper and would "flake" and then stop up the orfices. Apparently that don't happen with todays natural gas.

We still don't see copper being used for natural gas but if it's an existing installation we don't worry about it like we used too!

Here too. See it in new construction, in particular running to gas fireplaces, all the time. The only requirement is that it be labeled periodically along its length. To try to keep someone from trying to tap it for their icemaker or something I suppose.
