Hi Guys,

First time that I've seen a PVC valve used as a water main. Code check says "no female threaded PVC fittings" allowed. Yes, we are no code checkers, but seeing this valve sent up a red flag in my mind. Is it allowed?

I didn't see anything when I did a search here. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, it has a broken handle too.

Thanks ya'all!

My first question would be whether our local codes allow PVC for domestic water. Since its AZ, I would guess there's no freeze hazard to break the PVC.
Is that normal by you guys to have the main coming above surface outside of the house? That seems really weird. I could see issues with that.

Marcus, we have the main routed that way here in Florida, right out of the ground, and the PVC is then switched to CPVC.

We use approved CPVC ball valves that are solvent welded, not threaded. They last exactly 15 months in the blazing sun, then the handle snaps off when you touch it and the valve mechanism seizes up, never to be operated again.

Thanks guys. I guess the question is harder to answer than I thought.
