Yep, Florida is a rather good sized state, not very wide but quite long end to end.

yes Jerry, but, at its widest point (Panhandle) we are over 350 miles wide, which is only 100 miles less than we are long....Technically. 2 time zones even...

Not counting the Keys (which do not add much length to the state, just some 'width' at the bottom, if one can refer to the Key as 'width' without laughing), Florida is ~400 miles long measured along the center of the state.

The 'width', as you cal the Panhandle, from Jacksonville to the end of the Panhandle is ~365 miles.

If one did not know the shape of Florida was 'L' shaped, they might think that Florida has a greater land mass with your "350 miles wide". At the widest part of the length, Florida is only ~130 miles wide. At the highest part of the Panhandle 'width', Florida is only ~90 miles 'tall', but most of the Panhandle is <50 miles 'tall'.
