Inspected a home that did not have a separate circuit for the master bedroom. The electrician decided an additional circuit was needed but there is no accessible attic, so he spliced into the smoke detector 15 amp circuit. Electrician says code or NEC does not require a separate circuit for the smokes. Can anybody verify this? I usually see a separate circuit for the smoke detectors.
