Hi All,

Thanks for reading this thread and helping me.

I see a vertical crack on the wall for the basement (should be exterior wall before the addition that made it into an interior wall) that is in a staircase like formation, should this be a concern or it may be ok so I should get the house inspector to look it over instead of avoiding the house entirely?

THANKS again!!

Hi Bill,

Stepped cracks in a block foundation are not uncommon. In your photo, it does not look like there is much displacement, but that might be the lighting or angle of the photo. One problem that I have is the lack of information regarding your location. It does help.

Is there any cracking in the interior walls above? How about uneven floors?

Without being there, it is difficult to give an absolute assessment.

Hi Gunnar,

Thanks for the response.

Is there any cracking in the interior walls above? No

How about uneven floors? There is no uneven floor from my recollection.

The house is built in 1968 and I am located in NJ.

Thanks!
