Garage door lock (that is installed inside) has been disabled intentionaly per realtor since it is an automatic garage door. Is it suppossed to be that way? Thanks,

Matt unsure as to any standards. But If you have ever try to open to door with the lock in place and latched you would understand why to disable. Damn near cost me $800.00 to replace a garage door. I try to recommend to my clients that it be disabled to prevent acciental damages.

look up at the track and picture a metal pretzel. Thats what you get when the door is locked. And how would I know that?

You bet. Lock should be disabled or removed when opener is installed. Of course I see the locks all the time with the opener.

Matt,

TREC tells you in our SOP that the lock should be written up as a repair if the lock is present on an overhead garage door with an opener.

Its a no-brainer.

You have to write it up if the lock is present. If the agent disabled it to prevent it from locking, she saved you some keystrokes on your report writing.
