Victor, it can "reasonably" be expected that there is no current on a grounding conductor under normal circumstances. In the event of a fault it can "reasonably" be expected that the fault current will only be on one of the grounding conductors in the bundle that is crimped, so there is no reason why one grounding conductor of the largest present in the crimped bundle couldn't handle the largest expected fault current present in the bundle - and be the connection to the ground buss.
