Hey guys. I do not see a lot of hot water heating here. However, everytime I do I get a little intimidated. I am wondering where I can get further info and/or training on them. Or steps any of you take to inspect them. Thanks.

Obviously lots of info you can find and read at various websites. As starting points:
- Look at unit before firing if it isn't already running; this is to make sure it looks like it is functional and relatively safe instead of just turning it on and going Oh, __it!
- once running check and document running temp and water pressure
- check for auto flow valve and check valve
- check for auto damper and operation if present, check flue pipe pitch and condition
- when the unit is OFF look under the boiler to see how heavy the rust flakes are on the floor under the unit
- check for any signs of dripping under the unit
- check the burner tubes to see if they have been cleaned
- check for drips or leaks along pipe runs
- look for expansion tank
- as you walk around the house feel the bottoms and tops of radiators for significant temp differences
- check around radiators bleeders and valves for leaks
There's lots more but that's it for now. This should get you going.

do NOT test or try the prv to see if it releases. this is something if you open it might not reseal and you will be liable for replacement.(pressure relief valve)
