This article says it was recently "inspected" for insurance purposes.
Then, bang, no warning, a guy gets swallowed up in the night!
Scary and confusing.

I found a sinkhole next to a home a couple of months ago. Fairly common in middle TN due to all of the limestone we are sitting on.

I've had two sinkholes of my own, a 21' Bayliner (boat), and a Beech Sport (airplane).
Both were bottomless pits.

That's what I've always been told about those two things: one is a hole in the water into which you throw money, the other is where you throw money into the air.

It is better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than to be in the air wishing you were on the ground ... :)

There are two things a pilot never has too much of: 1) fuel; 2) altitude ... running out of either is not something one wants to experience. :(

Gregory,

I've heard there were three 'happiest days' in a boat owner's life: the day he buys his first boat, the day he buys a bigger boat, the day he sells that bigger boat. :D

We had a 21' Bayliner sinkhole as well. No matter what we did with it we could not take it out for less than $100 and most of the time it was $200 after we bought food and drinks! I must admit it was fun and we kind of miss it on those pretty days.

Florida Jerry....

Whats up with FL slabs.... no mesh or rebar? How can a hole open up in one room and swallow bed plus occupant?
