Is anybody here from Long Island New York? That might be able to answer some questions. I know we have some rules and regulations that are a lot different from other states.

Thanks for the getting back to me. Mikes the name.
I'm going to install a portable generator hook up for my house. This is what I have planned,
installing a T030N GE generator power inlet box with a NEMA L14-30 connection box on the outside of my home with a weather proof hub going to 3/4" rigid pull and conduit, inside the house the conduit will be EMT and another pull at the panel box. Running 10 AWG THHN/THWN wire to a 30 amp double throw breaker, hot black and red to the breaker that is going to be located at the upper right side of the panel box, neutral white and ground green to the bus bar. I purchased a Cutler-Hammer BRC0V40L1FM mechanical interlock cover UL Listed from Eaton Corp. I chose the mechanical interlock system over the transfer system because I have different things that I have run at certain times. Do you feel this would pass a inspection? I know it's up to the area I'm in, but would like some bodies opinion.

Mike,

It sounds like you have been doing your homework. Good for you.

The best and soundest advice that I can give you is to have this system installed by a licensed electrician that is familiar with this type of installation. If you are not sure whom to use, ask the dealer who is selling you the equipment.

I get the feeling you may be considering installing this yourself. If installed wrong, this can cause a terrible tragedy!

Sometimes it is cheaper/wiser to go first class the first time.
