new 2012 furnace ,guess it didn't fit so lets cut some notches in ceiling/floor joists. guess what no permit pulled either. thats not right-RIGHT

Notches look deeper than the allowed D/6 in the outer 1/3 of the span and maybe even deeper than the allowed D/4 at the end and wider than the allowed D/3.

Love the "uphill" Drip-Leg, should work wonders, or is the whole photo upside down? :smokin:

Guess the installer thought it was supposed to be there to keep the gas from "hammering" when the furnace shut off. Bless the DIYers. What would we have to report if weren't for them? Okay, we would still have the contractor/tradesmen/builder screwups.

Doesn't look like a drip leg, but a nipple with a 90 connected to the other line with gas cock.
