Hello,

I'm 4 years until I retire from the Navy and looking for a new career field. I just bought a house and after digging around 20 or so to find ours, and going through a 3 hour home inspection, I'm pretty sure I want to be an inspector for my follow-on career. I'm interesting in reading up on the field, I want to take the 2 week ASHI course next summer and start doing some apprentice work then too. Hopefully when I retire, I'll have the knowledge and skills to start on my own.

Good luck and thanks for your service.
Suggestion. Check out the local ASHI chapter and find out when they have and attend the local meetings, you do not need to be an ASHI member to attend the chapter or ASHI national events, most of the chapters have free or charge a minimal charge to attend their events
By the time you get started the local guys will know you, see that you are committed to the profession and most of them will be more than willing to give you hand and advice on getting started.
