Not much different than a gas line in a gas fireplace. I can't recall any clearance requirement in codes. I would say the chance of explosion is zero, but I am willing to stand corrected if someone knows otherwise.

If that plastic can melt, it's a fire hazard. Can it melt? I would recommend double walled vent pipe for safety.

That is not b-vent. It is single wall.

The gas connector has a polymer coating (looks like BrassCraft). These can be used inside of a gas fireplace so I don't think melting is likely.

Not sure what plastic you are referring to. If it's the yellow gas line, I think that is coated stainless steel.
