Gas hot water heater draft hood

There is no draft hood on the gas hot water heater, but is direct plumbed to the vent pipe which leads to a steel b vent chimney through the roof. Is this ok?

By the way, could someone tell me how to resize my photo's as I can't upload them as it is to big.

While most water heaters do have a draft hood, direct vent water heaters do not.

Mechanically vented gas appliances can NOT be vented into 'B'-vent as it is not designed or approved for positive vent pressure. Yes, please post pics when you can along with make and model. Some WHs are designed as natural vent but guys install aftermarket power vent kits, which are not approved unless tested and listed for that model appliance and vented with listed gas vent for positive vent pressure or other material such as PVC if specified and approved by the mfr.

To resize pictures, I use "VSO Image Resizer" program, which I downloaded. I cannot remmeber if I had to pay for it, but I thinkit was free.

any back pressure from the roof top will blow out the pilot light if there is one.
