Would like to know if you all call a double tapped circuit even if the one of the doubled up circuits is only going to a doorbell transformer.I have had a few electricians tell I'm not justified in making this call.

Eugene,

It is not 'what' is multiple tapped off the terminal, it is that 'more than one' conductor is tapped off the terminal rated for 'one' conductor.

As Jerry said, it makes no difference what it is powering. Brings up another point. I bet the transformer is laying in the bottom of the panel. This is wrong as well. You are not allowed to mix low and high voltage items in a panel like that.

Ditto above two...

The questions to be answered are;
1) are the breakers rated for two conductors?
and
2) What kind of connection do you think is being make at the point of attachment? My point being that when you have two conductors under the same lug, more than likely there is a potential issue with the point of contacts for both conductors, if not rated for such an installation.

Door bell transformers --I see it so much (90%) that I write it up but do not discuss it. New homes--the AHJ must see it and pass ? on it. Door bell transformers are usually hung off of the (outside) the box. Go Sox and then Go Pats.

That's okay (to be on the outside with the threaded fitting sticking in with the power conductors), but what Scott pointed out (transformer in the panel) is not.
