What's better: Hardiplank panels or Craneboard siding?

Vinyl is not used much here on the left coast, at least not in my area. I do see a lot of Hardie and Certainteed has a similar product. Both are nice looking and hold up well around here.

Hardi-plank panels get my vote. They hold up well and paint sticks to them like no tomorrow.

The best material is the product your siding contractor has the most experience installing, day in & day out.

If you have the money, Hardie gets my vote. Their color plus product holds up quite nicely when installed correctly
