Looking at Rick H.'s post on the Electrical, What is this? thread, I had an evil thought.

I may visit some new construction sites after hours and stick something into the brick mortar just to mess with someone in the future.
Shove a 1/4" piece on copper tubing with a threaded cap on it into the mortar just above the foundation line, but not near any plumbing fixtures.

Or one of those dated nails they used in the 1800's.

Or the "test" button from a broken GFCI outlet.

Sorry, I have a conference call in 30 minutes and my mind was wandering.

Jack, you are the reason all the homeowners leave the shower heads pointed in the direction of the inspector. HAHA And the reason I leave all the preset hot water valves at the lowest temp after I leave.

A fellow inspector finally sold his home after many months on the market. He called me to say the buyer's inspector will arrive on Wednesday. I offered to help him throw some stuff in the attic to mess with him/her. Exposed wire splices, rat traps, etc.

Turns out that it was ME. Fortunately, he thought better of tossing stuff in the attic before I got there.

Oh Jeez, Now whats this? Sorry Jack. :p

Could it be where the water shut-off valve box is located directly below this identification tag? If so, it was covered by the landscape material.

I just know next I find an old telephone nailed to the exterior wall to identify where the telephone equipment is located behind the wall. :D
