For the first time since President Abraham Lincoln established Thanksgiving as a federal
holiday 150 years ago, the celebration of the Pilgrims’ arrival on these North Atlantic
shores coincides with the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. It’s a rare confluence,
said not to happen again for another 77,798 years.
