Hi everyone,

I performed an inspection today, and the house had a Comfort Star Plus condensing unit. The unit has a model # only on the data tag and I can't find this brand in my reference sheets. I am having a hard time figuring out the date of manufacture for this unit. I would really appreciate some help on this matter.

The model # is MIH48-13

Hi George,

As close as I can get is after 1987 Air Conditioner Efficiency Standards SEER | Environmental and Energy Study Institute (http://www.eesi.org/fact-sheet-air-conditioner-efficiency-standards-seer).

Thanks Billy,

That's closer than what I had. The furnace was manufactured in 1990, not that the furnace age is any indicator but there is the possibility that both units were installed around the same time. I find it strange that there is no serial # on the data tag.

Thanks,

I think they have been around since about 2000, but I'm not sure. They seem to still sell R-22 units, probably for the repair market. Their website says they come pre-charged with R-22, which I thought was not permitted. Somewhere on the unit there should be a serial number label.
