The water heater looks OK to me since there are no kinks. The corrugated stuff is designed to make pretty tight radii. As for the furnace, I can't tell from the pic, but the top may be a little tight.

They both look a little too taunt to me.

The gas line on the furnace could be easily adjusted with moving the hard pipe connection towards the front of the unit somewhat.

Is that another unit sitting on stryofoam?

Gastite bend radii:

3/8" - absolute min. bend radius = 3/4", recommended bend radius = 3.0"
1/2" - absolute min. bend radius = 3/4", recommended bend radius = 3.0"
3/4" - absolute min. bend radius = 1", recommended bend radius = 3.0"
1" - absolute min. bend radius = 3.0", recommended bend radius = 5.0"
1-1/4" - absolute min. bend radius = 3.0", recommended bend radius = 5.0"
1-1/2" - absolute min. bend radius = 3.0", recommended bend radius = 5.0"
2" - absolute min. bend radius = 4.0", recommended bend radius = 6.0"

Do not forget, those are for the bend "radius", NOT bend "diameter".

Those are not CSST-they are flexible appliance connectors and look like Brass Craft to me. Check w/ mfr. but usually state diameter of a golf ball.

Michael,

That would mean 1 1/2 in Diameter about the size of a Golf Ball. :D

If you look at Jerry's chart he states Radius or 1/2 Diameter. Bob H's reference diameter = Same Size.

From Dormont's installation instructions, Item #10. "DO NOT kink, twist, or bend he connector smaller than 1 1/2" internal diameter (approximately the diameter of a golf ball). Avoid sharp bends-no right angles."

I tried to find the installation instructions online for Brass Craft but their site is not as user friendly. I'll see if I have one of their connectors lying around and get back to you on what they say.

FYI, the bending radius of most 1/2" CSST is that of a Philly Soft Pretzel. Says so right on the jacket. Trust me....;-)

Shoddy workmanship if you ask me. Where is the drip leg for the water heater?
