I'm been trying to get a key card to use the Sentrilock system, here in Illinois. Some state allow inspector to get into homes to do a home inspection using the key card. I'm wondering if any Illinois inspector have been grated permission from either the realtor association or the folks at

I've tried both with zero success. Any advise or direction from anyone in Illinois that has been successful in getting access to one would be very helpful

I can't see why they would provide a home inspector with a key, that would be up to the local real estate offices or local real estate board as they would be the ones responsible for the homes they put those locks on.

It is up to the local Realtor boards to allow it. In my area you must join a local board (we have about 3 to choose from all with different fee structures). Then the SentriCard folks will allow you to get a Sentri card key. I pay $230 to be an affiliate member of the local board and then $250 a year for the Sentri key. As long as you have a license, proper insurance and you pay their fee that is about all is needed.

I fought getting a key for years and what a fool I was for doing so! It is a big time saver especially for setting and picking up radon test.....

In my experience the agents are not too keen on our letting ourselves in - in McHenry county it's a big no-no. If an agent gives me a lock box code I'll let myself into a vacant home (except in McH Co) but never one that is occupied. Your zero success is likely to continue as such. As long as the agents have their current preferences our liability will be all that much less. I seldom have a problem with agents being on time and therefore I see no reason for change.

Here in Eastern PA almost every inspector has an electronic key (Supra). The ones that don't have one soon fall off of the referral list. Realtors complain when they have to go out to open a home for home inspections and radon drops/pick ups.
As that credit commercial says; "Don't leave home without it."
