Ladies and Gents,

I looking for a plug in charger for my Tiff 8800 Gas Sniffer. Or a way to charge the C cell
size batteries but they are 2.4 Volt each instead of standard C 1.5 Volt.

Contact the Manufacturer to purchase a replacement charger.

EBay may also be an option...

Sorry I didn't finish Thread B4. I guess I'll use the old Soapy Water till I can get one shipped.

Maybe this will help:

There are actually 4 total NiCad cells in those, each battery is 2 cells, so you wouldn't get the same voltage from 2 C batteries.

Last time I had to replace the batteries in mine, I got a local battery shop to build me a couple of NiMh batteries for it. Takes a couple more hours to fully charge them, but they last more than twice as long on a charge, can be recharged at least twice as many times before you have to replace them, and don't self discharge nearly as fast when you are not using it.

------My comments:ML

If you are handy you might be able to stack 4 AA together and get get clse to the size of the original pack.

Ni-CD are appx. 1.4 -1.45 volts per cell when fully charged. 4 x 1.4(nom) = 5.6- 5.8 V

4 x 1.5(AA)-6 V would bet you close to the correct terminal voltage.

Thanks Michael,

After reading your link might be time for a new sniffer.

What are you using?

Billy, as god is my judge I just tossed one into the garbage this afternoon. If I can retrieve it you can have it for the cost of postage.

Same as you. About 3 years on the original battery.
