So I know that you cannot put an aluminum chimney liner in a flue that previously heated with coal or gas since the liner will get chewed up and deteriorated within a matter of months or a few years. Unfortunately, a potential customer does not know this and one of my competitors is saying an aluminum liner is fine and up to code and that I am just trying to sell her something that is just more expensive (with my telling her she needs a stainless steel liner). Is there any documentation online that can put this to rest. (either at the National or State level, I live in Maryland)
If I could just tell her to go to this or that website so she can see the code for herself or email her an actual regulation that says you can't put an aluminum liner in a previous oil flue then the argument would probably be settled. Thanks.
