I am constructing a new house in IL and have an extra closet off a dining room that is 32"x32" with 24" door, would this be legal for an 24" electric water heater? Would there be any issues with installing this in there?

Thanks in advance!

........I think it would be fine. Just remember when it's time to replace that WH, you'll be restricted by that 2' door.........Greg

A 24" water heater will not fit thru an opening for a 24" door.

Don't forget you should have a drain pan with associated drain as well as the TPR drain. This is not much of an issue for basement or crawl space foundations but requires planning for a slab foundation.

I had to replace a closet water heater recently. A standard 40 gal tank was 22". I had to buy the 20" tank and paid almost double for it, the Space Saver. :(
