This shingle has had me scratching my head as well. I seem to remember another thread a couple years ago and now remember that particular shingle because at first glance it looks like it's installed wrong.

BTW... how did you get that picture? That looks like a REALLY steep roof and you're at the top of it?

There was a flat roof above the sloped section.
