I'm just getting started and was wondering if anyone is using the Flir E6 or E8 in their home inspections?

I am not. I weighed them considerably but they had some drawbacks like focus-free lenses. The MSX image enhancement was a nice feature.
I settled on a Testo 875-2i with Super Resolution. Lots of features including palette selections and built-in LED lighting.

I have an E6 and for that price range camera I feel it is the best on the market at this time. About the only thing I wish it had is a removable SD card. It has internal memory. The MSX feature is very nice.

How is the resolution of the pictures when you put them in a report?

You need to go to the Flir website, what they show is what it really looks like. With the MSR feature you can actually see a good amount of detail but the resolution is what you would expect with a IR camera in its price range.

If I were just getting started I would have to seriously consider this. The ROI on thermal cameras is in my opinion, is no way guaranteed.
Here is a link to a FLIR attachment that only costs $350.00:

Hey Hank, that's a pretty nice machine. Whats the image size it produces? I heard up to 1.5 mb..
I settled on the Flir 640 but only produces 700ish kb or if you do panoramic you can get up to 1mb ish

Hi Marc,
I'm not sure if you were asking about the FLIR attachment or the Testo. Not sure on either.

Here's a link to some E4 E5 E6 and E8 comparison images (http://blog.ivytools.com/2014/03/12/comparing-flir-e4e5e6e8-infrared-cameras-which-one-do-i-need/) I shot showing missing insulation. Might help you get an idea of resolution.
