We like to know who we are discussing issues with and where they are from.

Go the the 'User CP' button at the top and fill in your real name so you won't be wearing a funny hat.

Hi Richard
I think that is a good idea to use my full name.In real life I barely use my full name, becouse usually they have trouble pronuncing or memorating it, so I introduce myself with Tommy.Makes life easier. But if you insist, my real name is Decebal Marin Adamescu.Lets test your memory:can you call me by name?If not just just try to say it loud three times.I bet your tongue will get twisted.Anyway I just read in FAQ that the only person able to change your name is the administrator,if it's a really good reason for it.I can't change it myself.See next paragraph:
"How can I change the information in my profile?http://www.inspectionnews.net/home_inspection/images/ca_evo/misc/spacer.gif
It is your responsibility to keep the information in your profile up-to-date. You should especially ensure that your email address is kept current. You can alter any of the fields in your profile, except your username. Once you have registered your username, it becomes yours for life. In extreme circumstances, you may request that the administrator change your username, but he or she will require a very good reason to do so."
So,I think for now it,s not worted the trouble, and your tongue will be greatfull having just to say "Tommy" instead my full name. Also my name is on every page of my website as Scott noticed (Thank you Scott for visiting my site) along with all my personal info if anyone needs it.Thanks for understanding Richard. And by the way your picture (avatar) here looks like since you were younger; do you have a more recent picture of yourself?Just Kidding.:)
Thanks for the comment and the welcome.

Tommy,

Like Scott, I went your web site and saw your real name, why not use ' Decebal "Tommy" Adamescu ', or even ' "Tommy" Adamescu '?

Lets test your memory:can you call me by name?If not just just try to say it loud three times.I bet your tongue will get twisted.

Sure I can call you by name "Tommy" ... what's so tongue twisting about that? :D

By the way, it was the last name you used "HomeSpectorInc.com" which caught our attention, not the "Tommy".

Actually, Tommy... you would be surprised how well most of us speak English and can pronounce names. I can speak some Spanish, some German, some Italian and a little Vietnameese. Presently, I'm working quite hard to on speaking/ learning Korean.

The thing is, we like to know who we are discussing issues with and where they are from (geographically). Alias profiles aren't preferred as they do not provide any type of introduction (since we are'nt face to face) or familiarity with yourself or background.

Posting your website and the areas you serve was, in-effect, a means of advertising for yourself (to other inspectors) with the possible added effect of helping any search engine tag to find you. While it's not preferred to use this website as a advertising tool, I can understand why you did it. The better means of being found with a search engine is to do a recriporical link and/or provide your postings of quality information-- it will get found eventually.

Back to the profile thingy... I'm not sure that I would ever go up to anyone and introduce myself as; hello, I'm Richard AAInspection-Com.
But that's just me in any language...;)

Just my two cents...
Apenas mis dos centavos...
Gerade meine zwei Cents...
정당한 나의 의견....
Как раз мои 2 цента...

Hey Tommy long Island,

Rick H. shared one I'm going to try. Say's it works for him.

Target the Seller's you know they are going to buying a home soon.

My area has an open house list on the web. If I can't go by sending a letter and business card. :)

If you can access the Multi - Listing Real Estate web site you would even have a name for the address instead of just Home Owner.

It is pretty much the slow time in almost all of the markets. It all depends on how well homes are selling in your market. It will start picking up soon, I would say by mid March you should see an increase.

Also if you are fairly new, less than a few years in the business it tends to be slower simply because you do not have a large referral base yet.

It just takes time.

It has slowed down here so that I actually saw a fellow home inspector doing repairs on his own home.

Hey Tommy,

Having been a NY Licensed HI in the past I just thought you might want to put you NY Lic. number on the web site. I think the State requires it to be on all materials. I could be wrong about the web site but you may want to check into that. You have lots of competition in all those town mentioned and someone may just dime you on that. You may also want to say that you are licensed (certified isn't enough) in NYS. Go Giants.

Hello guys,
You got some good ideas. Thank you.
Anyone can give me some advice what company is better to make a good and reasonable website that I could modify/update myself?
Also what is a company with good results in internet advertising?
William, I have my NY license numbers on the second page (home inspector HomeSpector Home Inspector Page for My qualification (http://homespectorinc.com/Home%20Inspector.html)) but thank you for the sugestion.
Thank you.

Thank you Billy. I would try it if I'll be able to access those name lists. Should I create an account with the Multiple Listing Service, or just try to type in their search "sellers names"?
How about home buyers lists from mortgage preapruved buyers? Do you know how to get them?

Hi Jerry,
I've tried the email idea, and it didn't work. Thank you for notice. I'll try again later. I'm not to good with this message boards, I'm new at posting, but I'll learn as I go. I just figured out today how to edit my signature, if that would help. Do you know a good website builder or internet advertising company? I need a self editable site (my site HomeSpector Home Page for what is a Home Inspection (http://www.HomeSpectorInc.com) needs a facelift).
Thank you,

I googled Long Island MLS and got the site below. You ought to be able to find address and open houses if you try.

Google is a powerful tool. Use it when you can.
