200.7 Using white wire as ungrounded conductor

Just trying to understand this section. Can a white wire be used as an ungrounded conductor and if so where/when?

This is pretty self explanatory. White and gray wires in a cable can be re-identified and used as an ungrounded conductor. Note this applies only to cables - white and gray wires in a conduit have to be used as grounded conductors.

The most common example is when a 2 conductor cable is used as a switch leg, the white is remarked and used as the supply to the switch (in this instance, the remarked white can only serve as a switch supply, it can't be used as the feed to a fixture - the idea being a fixture can't be supplied by two white wires)
