View Full Version : Is these cracks serious?

Brought a house 2 years ago and every winter I get cracks around the molding and the interior corner walls. This is happening all through out the entire house.

Is this a structural/foundation issue or is it just a bad paint job? Happened twice already, last year I repainted it but its happening again when winter comes.

I don't know either ... (I am addressing your "unknown" status.

We log in here with our real names. Just saying......

Why don't you hire a local home inspector and have them come out and look at them first hand? You would get a much better idea than getting opinions off a web site using small photos.

Determining if cracks are serious or not, does not always involve just looking at the cracks themselves. Many times there are clues / signs in other parts of the house that help us give an opinion.

I must agree with Jerry and Jack, it fine to lurk in the shadows but if you want honest opinions you need to be honest with your identity........ Your location is very important as well...

It is time to re caulk the joints I can tell you that!

Gee..... let me see if I have this right..... You won't identify yourself, you won't say where you are-----but you want specific answers on your problem. WON'T FLY HERE!!

I'm surprised anyone answered you, but the best answer was----hire a local inspector who can look at the problem including specifics in your area that may exacerbate the issue.

I don't know if you have a problem with your cracks, but you do with your grammar.

Well, we all have our hot buttons. I'm concerned about misuse of a fishing rod.

But Mr. 123, Way, way, way too little info to answer your question.

ANY use of a fishing rod is a "misuse of a fishing rod"! :)

Okay, other than handing up on the cabin wall implying that, yeah, at some time in the past history of mankind, someone may have was used that artifact to catch fish.

BTW, the rod is used as a reason to go fishing. It doesn't have to catch anything and maybe never has.

To the OP I will say this. There should be a corner bead there and it is not the paint.

If that is an inside corner, there would be tape, not a corner bead.

The photos are too close up to tell what is where or much of anything else about them.

I *DON'T* fish ... and I am responding to your requests ... otherwise I would have already 'left the building' on this one. :)

I *DON'T* fish because I don't like fishing, never did. I *DON'T* hunt either, never liked it. My idea of 'roughing it' is "taking the condo with us" when we go camping (taking the motorhome, turning the A/C on, using the microwave, and turning on the electric blanket on cold nights). :) :p:whoo:

The wise cracks are not serious ... :) ... we all need some levity now and then.
