Drone regs for Canada.

Transport Canada has new rules out for drone flights. The price for ignorance could be a fine of $5000. FYI. :D
In a nutshell, anyone flying a drone in a residential area needs a certificate to do so.

Well the intent is that you would go through an online training course and register for a license. (I see annual license fee$ on the horizon).
It is not a bad thing for serious drone operators. Just more hassle than it is worth for me.

The homemade pole camera is quicker to use and no hassle. Plans are available for a modest fee. ;)

Part of the exemption is property involved with operation. So the house you are over doing a HI is pfsart of that operation. Isn't it??

26. The pilot operating under this exemption shall only operate a UAV at least five (5) nautical miles from a built up area.

27. The pilot operating under this exemption shall operate a UAV at a lateral distance of at least 100 feet from any building, structure, vehicle, vessel or animal not associated with the operation and at least 100 feet from any person.

32. Any person conducting operations under this exemption shall confirm that no unacceptable radio frequency interference to the UAV system is present prior to flight, nor is likely to be present during flight.

VALIDITY

This exemption is in effect until the earliest of the following:

December 21, 2016 at 23:59 (EST);
the date on which any one of the conditions set out in this exemption is breached;
the date on which this exemption is cancelled in writing by the Minister, where she is of the opinion that the exemption is no longer in the public interest, or that it is likely to adversely affect aviation safety.

I had purchased a drone, custom made, and got rid of it. My intent was to do roof inspections, but at the time the rules required an application for a permit, and insurance. Couldn't find an insurer at the time willing to insurer it since use for inspecting roofs was considered non hobby use, rather commercial purposes.

Gave the unit to a film production company.
