I was at a a house from 1941. in the back yard was a large cement block with either a filler neck or drain. Does anybody have any ideas what this might be?

It looks like a concrete laundry tub turned upside down and that pipe is the drain.

I concur with Raymond, at first it looked like a possible underground storage tank, but it really does look like some sort of basin turned upside down.

That's what i thought but it is HEAVY! it appears to be solid, and no spots for attaching legs.

My second guess would be the top of a former cistern or septic/grey water tank.

I agree.

Hmm.. although I have seen them where they sit in a type of rack with legs.. and do not actually attach to them.

But if it is solid..

Correction: It is a 'concrete' object, and one of its ingredients is 'cement'.

It is a bomb shelter for rodents. Doesn't everybody have them? :D

I agree, it's just an upside down concrete laundry sink sitting on the ground.

Base for the dog's hot tub.......

It sure looks like an upside down basin. Is it stuck/frozen to the ground?

Raymond nailed this one. The drain assembly looks like thousands that I have seen. So does the shape. They usually sit on steel or cast iron legs.
