Extremely difficult to post. At least on my end. Duplication, delay in typing

I know Brian is aware of this problem. I just had a duplication and the site freeze up. It is annoying.

When it doesn't post the first time, wait for the error message, hit the back arrow and let that reload, hit the back arrow one more time and let that reload, ... then hit the refresh page - your post will show at the top.

The multiple postings are from hitting Submit multiple times.

This site has had serious usability issues for a lot longer than the recent double, triple, multiple posting anomaly...

Dom.

Hi All,

Thank you for hanging in there. I am having some server work done tomorrow and with a little luck that will cure the problems. If not I will have some other work done until we get this sorted out.

The first update took place last night.

Another update will take place late tonight.

Keep me posted if issues continue.

Outside links coming into specific pages on InspectionNews will be broken for a little while.

We had to remove an SEO component that rewote all the URLs. We now need to duplicate that rewrite. Unfortunately not as easy as it should be but working on it.

I'm holding my breath but I haven't seen a database error since the update this afternoon.

Fingers crossed we beat the beast.

Let me know if you have any issues.

What I noticed that started happening a day or two ago was that I would initially get the full board, read a post, then only get the part of the board that post was in.

I could click on the Forums tab and get the full board back.

I'm not completely sure what you mean but keep me posted if that continues and at that point help me to understand a little better.

As far as I can tell there are not database errors when posting now.

Crap! Rick, you broke it! ;)

OK, still work to be done on my end but it appears to be much better. That is the only error (I get an email when an error occurs) that I have seen today.

I have more tricks up my sleeve and will get to them soon.

Thanks for the feedback.

Some more tweaks made today.

Are we making progress? Less (or hopefully no) errors?

Jerry Peck

Less errors, yes, seems much better now.

My problem may have been a memory issue (mine) in that I recall that as I worked my way back up from reading a post and a thread, both technical and non-technical sections would appear automatically together - now I have to do one additional click on 'Forums" to get both.

May be just me remembering what I thought I did and now have to do is actually what I had to do before but didn't know I was doing it ... if that makes any sense.

The thing I have noticed recently is that when I click back up from a thread, such as this thread and click 'Help', it used to show that I read it (not bold), now it shows it as unread (bold) unless I go back to the thread and then back up - then it shows as read.

Multiple email notifications again from Crown Vent discussion.

The 'can you find the conflict' thread always loads with the 4th page loading when the others load with the first page loading. That also leads to not showing up as 'read' (showing up as 'unread').

Not sure if there may be other forums/threads which do the same.

Looks like others are also experiencing long posting times and click the submit button several times to get their reply posted, which results in multiple duplicate posts and updates.

My first guess would be AOL. I would try Chrome or Firefox. Explorer is a dog as well.

One thing I've noticed is that the post does not change from bold-for-unread to not-bold-for-read after I make a post and go back up the forum thread chain, but ... when I read a post the change takes place.

That is with my phone (Samsung Note II Android), my notebook (Windows 7 with Chrome), my old desktop (Windows XP with Chrome), or my brand new desktop today (Windows 8.1 with Chrome).

Any one else having that happen too?

I still encounter difficulties while attempting to post. This time I received an error message. Logged out and found my post was entered twice.
