Do you have family or friends that have had to fight cancer?
About half of all men and one-third of all women in the US will develop cancer during their lifetimes. Today, nearly 14.5 million people alive in the United States have had some type of cancer. Some of these people are cancer-free; others still have it.
My father died from cancer in 1969 when I was 5 years old.
His sister, my Aunt Ann, was taken from us just a few years ago.
My mother is a 2 time cancer survivor and her sister, my Aunt Susie is a survivor as well.
I have many friends, some of them inspectors that have or have had cancer too.
So below is what I do to honor my father, aunt and friends who have lost their fight, and to support my mother, aunt and friends who are survivors and are here to Finish The Fight...
For the past 5 years I have been a volunteer on the local Relay For Life committee and this year I have stepped up and am the Committee Chairman for the event. If you are not familiar with Relay For Life, it is the biggest fundraiser, support and educational event that the American Cancer Society has. Simply put, Relay For Life saves lives and helps those with cancer.
Who is on your mind right now that has of has had cancer? My guess is that you can think of more than one person. Would you like to honor or support them? I would like you to make a donation to honor and/or support your family and friends and make that donation through me and my efforts at Relay For Life.
I will have a list with me at the Relay For Life (July 25th) with the names of all of you who have donated and the people you donated for.
