Has anyone used one of these new FLIR ONE devices and would they help with inspections or are they just a cool toy?

There have been threads before about how much you need to spend to get a good camera but I was thinking about using this as a tool to supplement what I could not see not for a full blown IR Thermography inspection. Lot easier to carry around and have at ready. Would appreciate any thoughts on this matter.

I have been asking around and haven't found anyone with the first generation. Now they have come out with a second generation with supposed higher resolution. Yet when you look at the site Buy FLIR ONE - Android | FLIR Systems (http://www.flir.com/flirone/content/?id=69420) the videos they have are all 1st generation cameras. You would think they would have made new video for the 2nd generation, seems a little odd.

Most of the videos are what you would expect for product demonstration,BUT look at the 2nd video from left ( Explore FLIR ONE | FLIR ONE (http://www.flir.com/flirone/content/?id=62910) ) with a agent showing a house and the role reversal for explanations of what they see. Worth a chuckle to start your day :bounce:

I recently took the CRT course. Our instructor said that these are not diagnostic tools. They may be more than a toy, but nowhere near being for professional use.
