I can't help you with the pd-k or pd-x.
Obviously the 12/2 w /g NM is the standard designations we are used to seeing.
12 gauge, 2 conductors with ground.

Thanks Jim, already knew that, and was wondering what the other meant.

I'm sure you already tried searching but all the pages that I tried to go to come back as not found or broken links.

Phelps Dodge was originally a very large mining company which mined copper (mainly copper) and began manufacturing copper wire.
As I recall, Phelps Dodge wire manufacturing was bought by or combined into General Cable which is now owned by Southwire. Southwire is now the manufacturer of Romex(R).
PD-X
The PD stands for Phelps Dodge, the X is the type of NM cable, similar to the designation NM-B.
Starting with the above information I found the following link:

From the link in my previous post:
- PDX TYPE NM WIRES - - Application
- - - Non-metallic sheathed cable for exposed or concealed installation not exposed to excessive moisture or dampness
- - Specifications
- - - UL 719
- - - PNS 35-2
UL 719: http://ulstandards.ul.com/standard/?id=719
The referenced UL 719 is the UL standard for NM cable.
The link also included a link to a download document - that link is old and no longer goes to the document. I tried searching for the document itself but did not find the document.
